Services for LBS Students

The Belzberg Library

The Belzberg Library is located just to the right of the main Hastings Street entrance to SFU Vancouver (Harbour Centre). Because it is a relatively small library, it works cooperatively with the Bennett Library on the Burnaby campus to transfer print books and articles that you may require. Many of the library resources are available on line; access is through the SFU Library's home page, located at http://www.lib.sfu.ca. Assistance is available through the Ask a Librarian link. Please see the Belzberg's website for further information about its services and hours of operation. As well, personal library orientations are available by calling 778-782-5051 or email libask@sfu.ca.

More specific information and guidance is available for Liberal and Business Studies program participants. Liberal and Business Studies: Information Resources for Integrated Studies contains a wealth of useful information for LBS students. As well, the Library Services for Mature Students page contains additional information about services and research resources.

A SFU Library/ID card is necessary for borrowing materials from any SFU Library. See Library/ID cards page for further information. You can obtain your Library/ID card from the Registration and Information Services counter at the Vancouver campus. Photo ID is required. Please see SFU's deadlines for undergraduates page for card production schedule. If, for some reason, you're not able to obtain your card during the times listed, please contact our office.

Recreation Services

All LBS students are eligible for an SFU Burnaby Recreation Membership. Membership entitles the user to take advantage of the Burnaby campus recreation facilities, including a running track and swimming pool and fitness centre. See Facilities page for more information.

While no recreation facilities are available at the SFU Vancouver campus, SFU's Recreation and Athletics department has partnered with the Vancouver Parks Board to enable eligible Vancouver students to obtain a Vancouver Recreation membership. This is a pilot initiative to promote healthy living through access to recreation services in Vancouver. This partnership is an interim measure while Recreation and Athletics is involved in a strategic planning process to identify how best to meet the Recreation needs of Vancouver campus students for the longer term.

The Vancouver Parks & Recreation Membership (through SFU) entitles the holder to access to Vancouver Parks Board operated fitness centres, public skating and public swimming sessions during operating hours. For more information, see Vancouver Recreation.
