Students
Pre-program Course in Analytical and Quantitative Reasoning
Students admitted to the program are expected to satisfy SFU admission requirements, and the prerequisites for the courses offered in the program. If you did not complete Principles of Math 11/Algebra 11 (or an equivalent course), or completed Principles of Math 11/Algebra 11 more than 10 years ago, or completed either course with less than 70%, you are required to complete SFU's FAN X99 (Foundations of Analytical and Quantitative Reasoning) course with a grade of at least C. A special section of FAN X99 will be offered during the summer semester to LBS students. If you feel your mathematics background is adequate, you may request to write the Q Placement Test prior to the first FAN X99 class. If you pass the test, you will be excused from attending FAN X99.
FAN X99 will meet on a weekly basis throughout the 2010 summer semester, i.e., during the months of May, June and July. The cost for the course will be assessed according to the regular undergraduate tuition fee schedule. Please see the current SFU Calendar for details.
For more information about the Q Placement Test and how to register, as well as a practice test, see http://www.math.sfu.ca/ugrad/qtest/
