International Communities at Home

We work with SFU units to engage internal and external communities to seek and offer expertise and advice, support refugees and newcomers, and identify opportunities for mentorship, internships and funding.

The RNP at SFU International spearheads the University’s refugee and newcomer related community engagement through partnering with community stakeholders, developing and implementing initiatives and programs, and hosting public dialogues and events. Additionally, we work with faculties and students to showcase research on refugee and newcomer issues at SFU as well as connect research to community through papers, projects and workshops.

The SAR mission is to protect scholars and promote academic freedom. Through SAR, SFU offers temporary academic positions to scholars facing grave threats such as imprisonment or being silenced in their home countries.
