Coding and other advanced technology skills are quickly becoming understood to be the "fourth foundation" of K-12 education, complementing the traditional triplet of Reading, Writing and Mathematics. 4th Foundation supports Students, Teachers, Parents and School Administrators in this exciting transformation of learning experiences.
4th Foundation's curriculum develops technology skills from kindergarten to university bridge. We focus on learning outcomes that are demonstrated in portfolio projects, with domain areas such as web development, robotics, games, social media, data science and the internet of things. We emphasize not just basic coding skills, but the "4Cs" of Creative and Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Communication in many application areas.
We are mapping our courseware to international curriculum frameworks, whether that of each province in Canada, Common Core or CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association) in the States, the UK Computing Curriculum or ACARA in Australia. 4th Foundation's goal is to be the first to market global platform for standards-mapped coding and technology skills in K-12 education.
The Internet has blurred the boundaries between the idea of a 'publisher' and a 'platform.' 4th Foundation is a new media publishing platform collaborating with industry, academia and not-for-profits as we seek out the best ideas, methods and approaches for teachers to bring more advanced technology skills into their classrooms.
