Top 10 for MetaOptima's Molescope App

August 30, 2013

We are happy to announce that Venture Connection Incubator client MetaOptima Technology Inc., led by founder Maryam Sadeghi, has been named to the Top 10 for the 2013 BCIC New Ventures Competition.

MetaOptima's product, Molescope, is an innovative app, which helps users detect the onset of skin cancer before it breaks out. It provides a professional self-screening imaging device that comes with educational software, online consulting and local referrals to bring peace of mind for users and save lives. They are currently resident clients at the Venture Connection incubator offices at SFU-Surrey. You can read more about the company on their website or in recent media coverage by SFU News, The Weather Network, and Burnaby NOW

The ten finalist companies have completed three jury rounds, attended education seminars, and met with business mentors to reach this point. All companies will now pitch in-person to a private jury on September 12th and 13th, with the winning companies to be announced at the BCIC New Ventures Competition awards ceremony on September 25th. More detail about the competition and the other finalists is available on BCIC New Venture's website

MetaOptima follows in the footsteps of Venture Connection Alumni client HiretheWorld, who took first place at BCIC New Ventures in 2010.

SFU Venture Connection, in partnership with Coast Capital Savings, provides entrepreneurship training services and opportunities for SFU students and recent alumni.
