A new volume, Indigenous Heritage and Tourism: Theories and Practices Utilizing the Ainu Heritage, edited by IPinCH team members Hirofumi Kato and Mayumi Okada, has now been published by the Center for Ainu and Indigenous Studies, Hokkaido University. The collection is based on an October 2012 symposium held in Hokkaido that explored the challenges of cultural tourism and the potential of public archaeology especially in regards to the Ainu, the Indigenous population of northern Japan, through a series of case studies and by more general exposition. The contributors to this volume discuss a variety of ways to implement more effective and meaningful cultural tourism programs and practices. IPinCH contributors are Kato, Okada, Carole Ellick, Joe Watkins and George Nicholas.

The volume is available as a pdf in both English and Japanese.
