archaeology, rock art, identity politics, heritage management Biography: Sven Ouzman is Curator of Pre-Colonial Archaeology in the Social History Department of the Iziko South African Museum, following several years as a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. His research interests and social engagements include the study of diverse rock art traditions and the use and abuse of these rock arts in contemporary society. Part of this work centres on studying graffiti and the underclass. Archaeo-tourism and heritage in Africa are vastly under-theorised fields in need of substantive theoretical contributions by scholars from the global south.
