WHAT I LEARNED

A lot. Overall there was a tremendous conversion of data to knowledge. The experience embedded concepts I felt I understood about buildings, cities, products, working, history, societies and the value of design. Further, I understand what we as designers and people are capable of and how we can affect.

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM?

I without hesitation recommend this program. If you are of genuinely open mind you will be able to take in so much. There are so many invaluable opportunities to seize moments -- rare opportunities that many of our peers, academic, professional or otherwise may never know.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS

  • Asking questions.
  • Leaving interviews with an unfortunately rare explosion of ideas -- like being carried by lightning.

FAVOURITE QUOTE(S)

  • "Okay, I like that book and I like that movie but can we please just make a decision"

  • "See how fast you run when you have a wolf behind you."

  • "I wouldn't want to die in a Mendini bed, but I'd like to make love in a Mendini bed!"

  • "It is fairly pointless to look at the market to understand what to do, because all that will happen is that you will repeat the same story. Innovation becomes the key to success."

FAVOURITE BUILDING OR SPACE

St Peter's Basilica.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I am currently supporting my programming intuition with an education in Interaction Design at SFU's School of Interactive Arts and Technology. My passion is getting passionate.

CAREER GOALS AND INTERESTS

I'm fascinated by interfaces, by affordances, by opportunities for agency -- at all scales and through all disciplines. I want to bring people together and provide ways to let them do what they do best. I want to create sustainable ways of working, of living and of creating.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND

I am a tall left wing male, born in Victoria in 1983. Through high-school I participated in theatre and football, and had the opportunity to be exposed to computer programming at a rather early age. I continued my theatrical passions to help write, direct and act in a series of sketch comedy shows for the Fringe festival and as fundraisers for local community centers.
