Client & Research Services
Client and Research Services (CaRS) strives to provide value-added technology services to the SFU community. By means of hands-on end-user support, technical or consulting services, and university-wide product agreements, CaRS employs the unique skillset of their staff – from user-support to system administration and beyond – to accomplish this goal.
Services
CaRS' responsibilities can be categorized into three groups:
Client Support
- Desktop Support - Hands on support offered to staff and faculty on various platforms and hardware

- Computer Labs - Available on all campuses, for general use

- Keyserver - Management of license distribution for SFU community

University Licenses & Agreements
- Software
- Microsoft Office - University-wide availability for staff and faculty
- Statistical - Including SAS, SPSS, Minitab, S+, and Systat
- Others
- Hardware - Computer and printer pricing and warantee agreements
Research Computing
- High-Performance Computing - Provided to SFU through WestGrid/ComputeCanada
- Programming Support - Expert help installing and optimizing research programs
- Research Facilitation - Meeting needs of researchers through storage and computing provisioning
