IT Services at Vancouver

The Harbour Centre location of the SFU Vancouver campus is located at 515 West Hastings Street, and offers several computing facilities in support of its programs. The Royal Bank Instructional Computing Centre is located on the main floor; the Himie Koshevoy Publishing Lab is located on the second floor; there is an additional computing lab located on the seventh floor. The Royal Bank Instructional Computing Centre consists of a Macintosh and IBM teaching lab, and an additional lab with IBM and Macintosh computers that is used as a drop-in facility. The Himie Koshevoy Publishing Lab offers a Macintosh workstation teaching facility that is designed to support the publishing community at SFU. The 7th floor lab offers additional Windows-based workstations. Full information on the computing labs at SFU Vancouver - including lab hours - can be found here. Users must be part of the University community (including students enrolled in credit or non-credit study), and must present a valid SFU library card, or an authorized provisional usage card, before using the facilities.

SFU Vancouver trouble ticket system (Staff & Faculty)

If you are an SFU staff or faculty member having difficulty with your computer or software, you can also use our trouble ticket system to request assistance. To submit a trouble ticket, simply visit this web page.

Wireless access

Anyone with a valid SFU ID can configure their devices to connect to SFUNET-SECURE, the university's secure wireless network. An automatic secure wireless installer is available to members of the SFU community that takes the pain out of installing SFUNET-SECURE or eduroam. Supported operating systems include Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Apple OS X (all versions), Ubuntu, Android (version 2.1 and later) and iOS based devices (iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad).

Non-SFU visitors attending SFU events should contact the event organizer to see if network access has been arranged for them.

Computing Facilities Rental

Our computing labs may also be rented by off-campus groups for educational and training purposes. Visit the Meeting, Event and Conference Services web pages for more information on computing lab rentals (including current lab rental rates).

Please note that if you need special software installed on our lab machines for your booking, we will need a minumim of 14 days prior notice.
