These instructions will inform you how to print from a Staff Mac OS X computer at SFU Surrey:

What you need BEFORE YOU START:
 
Mac OS 10.6.x "Snow Leopard" users PLEASE READ THIS. You do NOT need to install HP drivers from this page.
Mac OS 10.4.x 10.5.x DO NOT have the drivers for our current printer models. You must get them from the downloads.

• Black & White Printers: HP LaserJet 4250 or P4015 (HP LaserJet P4010 Series).
• Colour Printer: HP Color LaserJet 3700 or 3800.
• You will need to download and install a driver for our Toshiba Copiers. Click here.
  

LPR Print Queue Installation:

3. a. Mac OS 10.4.x - In the "Printer Browser" click on IP Printer, choose "LPD".
• The first (address) field is always "ais-print3.surrey.sfu.ca".
• The second field must contain the EXACT name of the printer you intend to use. All printers at Surrey are labelled with their queue name.

b. Mac OS 10.5.x - the new drivers appear very similar to older drivers (which may or may not be installed)
Please note that the correct drivers are as follows:
 
Toshiba 282: TOSHIBA e-ST280/283 Series PS
Toshiba 522: TOSHIBA e-ST450/453 Series PS
Toshiba 351c: TOSHIBA e-ST4511/451c Series PS

You may ignore the other drivers, or delete them (admin rights required) from: "/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/"

4. Give it a descriptive name - we highly recommend pasting the "Queue" field into the "Name" field.

5. Choose the printer's brand

6. Select the printer's model. You MUST install the Toshiba drivers. If you have not done so you must quit Printer Setup Utility, install the driver, and start again.

7. Click the "Add" button and select the options for your printer:

B&W HPs have two trays and a duplex unit. You must tell printer setup this when you install the printer

If you've sent a job that does not print right away, please hit the "Job Status" button in the top-right of the Toshiba. On the LCD touch screen, "print" should be selected - press the "invalid" button on the touch screen to see a list of all jobs with no codes - they will appear by user name and job title. Here you may select your job and release it manually with your proper department code. This is a bug with the current driver and we are waiting on a fix.
