Wireless Staff Printing Windows Computer
These instructions will inform you how to print from your laptop using
Windows 2000/XP from the wireless network at SFU Surrey:
What you need:
a) Download the appropriate printer drivers (Postscript 3, or PS3) from Toshiba's website or from the links below.
b) Your Windows install CD or the LPR install files available here.
Before beginning the install, It is often helpful to download the necesary files to an easy to find place like your Desktop (The driver installs are linked off the Toshiba model numbers below).
LPR Print Service Installation:
1. Go to Start: Settings: Control Panel: Add/Remove Programs.

2. Click on Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. Scroll down until you find “Other Network File and Print Services”.

• If this box is checked, then go to the next step (4).
• If it’s unchecked, check it and click Next. You may need your Windows CD or this file to complete this installation (download and decompress, browse to the folder created). This will install “Print Services for Unix”.
4. Laptop Printing Configuration:
Go to Start: Control Panel: Printers and Faxes.

Choose Add a Printer.
Click the Next button on the Add Printer Wizard Screen.
Select Local printer and make sure “Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer” is UNchecked.

Select Create a new port. In the drop down type list select “LPR Port”.

Enter the name of the print server and the print queue. All printers at Surrey are labelled with their queue name.
At Surrey campus the print SERVER is always “ais-print3.surrey.sfu.ca”

The printers available for printing over LPR are:
Mezzanine Printers:
| sry-sc2550-bw1 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO282 Series |
Galleria Printers:
| sry-sc3082-bw1 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO452 Series |
| sry-sc3325-bw1 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO452 Series |
| sry-sc351-bw1 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO452 Series |
| sry-sc5015-bw1 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO282 Series |
| sry-exp5173-bw2 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO282 Series |
| sry-sc5387-bw1 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO282 Series |
Tower Printers:
| sry-sc14240-clr2 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO451c Series |
| sry-sc14630-bw1 | TOSHIBA e-STUDIO452 Series |
It is often helpful to copy the name from these tables and paste into the "queue" box.
7. Download and locate the appropriate printer driver. If you have already installed the driver, skip to the next step, otherwise do it now. Click "Have Disk" and navigate to the location that the unzipped driver files are located (we apologize on Toshiba's behalf for not providing a "proper" program-based driver install).

8. On the next screen, select “Do not share this printer” and click the Next button. The default name is the printer model, you should rename it to something more meaningful i.e. “SFU Surrey 14-240 Toshiba Colour”
9. If you want to print a test page select Yes; otherwise select No and click the Next button.
11. Click Finish on the next screen. At this point, the printer will demand your department code each time you print. To avoid this, enter your code into the printer beforehand.
12. The printer setup is now complete.
