SFUNET-SECURE - Preferred
SFUNET-SECURE is the preferred wireless network on campus supporting 802.11a/g/n protocols as well as full WPA2/AES encryption. It also requires an 802.1x EAP-TTLS/PAP or EAP-PEAP/MSCHAPv2 client for authentication. An automatic installer is available for supported operating systems.
SFUNET is an older, insecure wireless network meant for basic connectivity. It supports 802.11a/g/n with no encryption and utilizes a web portal for authentication. Currently there are no traffic restrictions and should support all wireless devices.
Eduroam is a BCNET initiative that allows students, staff and faculty access to wireless services at cooperating universities without the need for obtaining a guest account. This allows a user visiting another institution to login using the same credentials they would at home. Support for eduroam is currently available from member institutions in Canada, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
