Work impacts many of our lives. Ensuring fair and decent working conditions can improve the quality of life of workers, their families, and communities. As the world changes, so do the forces that impact work. Our programs provide students with an understanding of the forces shaping the nature of work, providing them with the skills to adapt to complex challenges in the changing future of work.
The skills students gain in critical thinking, economic and social analysis, writing, and research are valuable in many fields of work. Our students go on to a wide variety of careers in fields such as labour and employment law, research, policy analysis, teaching, community development, and human resources management.
In addition to our certificate and minor programs in Labour Studies, SFU is proud to offer the only Labour Studies BA (Bachelor of Arts) program in British Columbia.
