SFU-SFUFA Labour Update: SFU Faculty Association and University Approve First Collective Agreement

September 26, 2016

On September 22, the Human Resources Committee of the Board of Governors, acting under delegated authority, voted to approve the agreement reached with the Faculty Association of Simon Fraser University. We have also been notified that members of the Faculty Association have voted to ratify the Agreement with 95% of votes cast in favour of ratification.

The work of implementing the new Agreement will now begin. While the Agreement is officially effective retroactive to July 1, 2014, the parties will work together to decide on an implementation schedule for certain articles that may be difficult to implement immediately.

Faculty Relations will be working to implement the salary changes and will keep university faculty members updated as to their progress. The retroactive salary changes will take some time (several months) to implement. As we make this transition, we ask for your patience as we will be encountering some situations and interpreting new language for the very first time.
