Dr. Heather Bliss

Dr. Heather Bliss is a Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at SFU. She regularly teaches LING 282W (“Writing for Linguistics”) and other courses in linguistics. Her interest in writing began at age 7 in the Guy Weadick Elementary School Writing Club and has continued throughout her career, in which she has published numerous academic papers. Her research focuses on Indigenous language documentation, analysis, and revitalization. Since 2003, she has been working with members of the Siksiká and Kainai communities on documenting and analysing the Blackfoot language, and she is the Editor and Curator of the Blackfoot Stories Archive.
