Linguistics alumni Yuko Bartel decided that she wanted to help new Canadians adjust to life in Canada. Jordan Delville-Pratt caught the travel bug and wanted a strong foundation from which to teach English in foreign countries. Both completed the Certificate in TESL Linguistics and found the program an essential step towards realizing their goals.

The Certificate in TESL Linguistics is a program directed at undergraduate students with little or no teaching experience. The program exposes students to foundational issues in English grammar, second language acquisition, and classroom practices. Although the Certificate itself is not a specific employment credential, it constitutes preparation for advanced study in applied linguistics and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language).

Applications for the Certificate in TESL Linguistics program are accepted now until January 31, 2017 for the program starting in May 2017. Visit the program's FAQs for information on the language requirements, application process, and more!
