Spring 2012 Instructor office hours have been posted to the website!
Persian
Thanks to support from the Centre for the Comparative Study of Muslim Societies and Cultures at SFU, the LTI will resume teaching Persian (Farsi) this fall. The beginning-level course (PERS 118) will have a maximum of 25 students; the process of hiring an instructor is underway now. The course will support the Middle Eastern Studies concentration in the History Department as well as graduate students who wish to do research on Persian civilizations, but it will be open to all (who don't already speak the language). Deutschkreis
This summer the LTI has established a Deutschkreis on campus, a circle (kreis) of people, mostly faculty, who speak German. So far only an email list, the Deutschkreis hopes to put on (German-language) lectures and social events in the near future, partly with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service. There is a remarkable number of German speakers on campus, both native speakers, from Austria , Germany, and Switzerland, and others who have spent time living and working, or researching, in Germany. SFU is thinking of the world, and not just in English. Contact Claudia Hein cmhein@sfu.ca
