We lead health innovation. SFU’s ImageTech Lab uses sophisticated imaging tools to treat brain disorders.

We innovate to fight climate change. Sustainable engineering professor Sami Khan develops efficient systems to capture and convert carbon dioxide emissions.

We help farmers innovate. SFU researchers improve crop-data tools, develop safer pest controls and help farmers grow more food with less pesticide.

We train the next generation of cleantech engineers. Students at SFU’s School of Sustainable Engineering learn to become global leaders in cleantech.

We help businesses become more resilient. Sarah Lubik, SFU’s director of entrepreneurship, looks at how businesses can use technology to become more resilient to future pandemics and economic disruptions.

We expand green power. The Hybrid Thermal Electric Microgrid project trains students to design the next generation of green power energy grids.

We test climate solutions. Researchers at SFU’s Living Lab turn SFU’s campuses into testing grounds for sustainable solutions to combat climate change.

We develop new talent. Computing science professor Uwe Glasser addresses the severe talent shortage in cybersecurity with a new professional master’s program.

We’re cleantech trailblazers. SFU won the Top Education Institute Award and the Top Scholar Award at 2021’s BC Cleantech awards.

We open up new economic and scientific frontiers. At our Quantum Algorithms Institute (QAI), Canada Research Chair Stephanie Simmons works with the QAI team on the future of quantum computing.

We advance cleantech solutionsCanada Research Chair Majid Bahrami develops sustainable energy projects. His research team won the 2016 Canada Clean50 Award.

We advance health innovationsComputing science professor Martin Ester uses machine learning and data mining to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment.

We turn invention into innovation. Professor Elicia Maine won the 2021 BC Cleantech Top Educator Award for teaching scientists and engineers how to turn their discoveries into viable companies.

We power clean energy. Canada Research Chair Erik Kjeang heads SFU’s Fuel Cell Research Laboratory where he works with Ballard Power Systems on fuel-cell-powered buses.

We help Canada lead in global technology. Through Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster, SFU researchers help Canada develop, deploy and scale digital technologies.

We develop new technologies. Technology Entrepreneurship@SFU brings students together to develop and market new, solution-driven technological products.

We are powering Canada's fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0). Our professional Master of Engineering Smart Manufacturing and Systems will train the next generation of advanced digital manufacturing professionals.

We help organizations build capacity for digital transformation. The Digital Innovations and Leadership (DIAL) program delivers systems change solutions for Canadian employers to acquire new talent or upskill current employees.
