Stay safe this spring term

As a new term begins, you are reminded that it is a requirement to wear a mask in indoor spaces at all SFU campuses and please be prepared to show your ID. You are also encouraged to maintain a safe, physical distance from others of 2 meters (6 feet) whenever possible.

Remembering SFU alumnus and former member of Board of Directors, Gregory Stacey

It is with sadness that SFU shares news of the passing of Gregory Stacey, SFU alumnus and former member of the Board of Directors. A prominent member of the Nelson community, Stacey welcomed and mentored many youth from all over the world.

Submit a Song or Art Piece for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Creative Collective is supporting Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) by curating a consent playlist and creating an art mosaic, made by students, staff, and faculty. SAAM’s theme is centering the voices and perspectives of Black, Indigenous, and Peoples of Colour to eliminate sexual violence and to create safer, more equitable communities. Operational Updates

SFU launches program for students who need to self-isolate

SFU's newest student support resource program, CARES, aims to make battling loneliness and a lack of connection for SFU students dealing with the provincial's COVID-19 quaratine requirements easier by helping with meals, accommodation and individualized check-ins and support. CARES is currently a pilot program.

Cloud Recording Now Available on SFU Zoom

SFU Zoom now offers optional cloud recording for hosts of all Zoom meetings. This new feature saves time and space on your personal device by saving recordings in SFU Zoom’s new online Canadian data centre. Meeting hosts can also securely share Zoom recordings to help with virtual collaboration after a meeting has ended.

If you manage or access the personal information of students, staff, faculty or any other university stakeholders, keeping up to date with how to manage personal information is part of your job. To make it easy for you, SFU's Access and Privacy Program has launched a series of training modules—everything you need to know about privacy at SFU. Let’s work together to keep our community’s privacy protected.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Champions for a Healthy Campus Community Awards. Do you know of a person, program or group that has made an outstanding contribution to the Healthy Campus Community initiative and are supporting the health and well-being of the SFU community? SFU Student Experience Initiative presents a conversation with Nisga’a writer and scholar from Vancouver, Dr. Jordan Abel, Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta. He will be joined by Dr. Deanna Reder, an Associate Professor in the Department of Indigenous Studies and the Department of English at SFU, to share his experiences as a graduate student and researcher.
