SFU PROFESSOR TO LEAD NEW NATIONAL INFECTIOUS DISEASE MODELING NETWORK

Mathematics professor Caroline Colijn will oversee the Canadian Network for Modelling Infectious Disease (CANMOD), one of five multidisciplinary infectious disease modelling networks that will increase Canada’s capacity to directly support short, medium and long-term public health decisions.

CONTINUING THE INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES CONVERSATION

In September 2019, Lisa Jackson's Transmissions exhibition at SFU's Goldcorp Centre for the Arts explored how culture is connected to language and how language is connected to our imagination, worldview and the land through an immersive Indigenous futurist multimedia installation. To continue the dialogue, Transmissions Expanded, is an online portal digging deeper into the exhibition's work.

 

SFU's Beedie School of Business has created a new admissions process — the first of its kind at SFU — where continuing studies alumni can be admitted to the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA), even if they lack an undergraduate degree. The new pathway opens doors to graduate studies for working professionals and recognizes that professional careers are not as linear as they once were.

The RADIUS SFU Fellowship is accepting applications from students until April 18. Ideal fellows are those who want to make a three-month commitment to develop their leadership capacity, build their professional networks and generously support their peers. A curious and collaborative mindset and an interest in exploring how they interact within broader systems of privilege and oppression is a prerequisite. Do you know someone who is an ideal candidate? HOW CAN SCOTTISH STUDIES WORK TOWARDS DECOLONIZATION?

This free virtual event, will feature three enlightening presentations by Alyssa Bridgman, Emma Bond & Michael Morris, and Amy Parent. They examine colonial histories and presents circumstances involving Scotland and the Scottish diaspora, as well as considers the roles that Centres of Scottish Studies can play in the work of decolonization. The presentations will be followed with a Q&A session.
