SFU has shared a new Reconciliation Report, highlighting where we are today and where we want to go in our journey together. Learn about our commitments to reconciliation evidenced throughout the myriad of projects and initiatives at the university.

NEW MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM ESTABLISHED TO REVITALIZE INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES

In response to the urgent need expressed by Indigenous communities in British Columbia and Yukon to produce advanced speakers and documentarians of their languages, SFU's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has established the Master of Arts in Indigenous Languages and Linguistics (INLL).

REUNITING CHILDREN WITH THEIR COMMUNITIES

SFU Indigenous Studies professor Eldon Yellowhorn is the principal investigator of the Brandon Indian Residential School Cemeteries Project. The project seeks to identify and acknowledge the children buried at the site while connecting them back with family and communities.

SFU supports all those courageously standing up for human rights at this time, including Iranians across the world and here at the university. Yesterday, SFU’s Vice-President People, Equity and Inclusion, Yabome Gilpin-Jackson, offered solidarity to those affected by the situation in Iran and resources for those who need help.

RESOURCES + OPERATIONAL UPDATES

FINS (fins.sfu.ca) and FAST (fast.sfu.ca) will be unavailable from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 1, 2022, to accommodate required system maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you experience any issues after the scheduled outage window, please report them here.

October 17, 2022, SFU will be engaging and consulting with faculty and staff (as well as students) to share budget information and to hold space for conversations and gather input. We continue to look for more and different ways for our community to provide input on budget priorities. Stay tuned for more information.

During this period, all levels can only be accessed via staircase or via exterior entrances. Please contact Brent Heard at brent_heard@sfu.ca or Mike Williams at mike_williams@sfu.ca with any questions.
