CELEBRATING THE LAUNCH OF THE SNUNEYMUXW LANGUAGE LEARNING HUB

RESEARCH ASSISTANTS SHAPE SFU: WHAT'S NEXT? ANALYSIS

Earlier this spring, the SFU community shared hundreds of ideas on ThoughtExchange in response to big questions about ‘what’s next’ for SFU. A team of research assistants was assembled to analyze the responses, each bringing their unique perspective and academic expertise to the work.

Students from across the university spoke to the Associate VP, Teaching and Learning team at SFU's Services Fair earlier this month and shared what they are most excited about, what they are most concerned about and what instructors can do to assist.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has awarded the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies at Simon Fraser University and the UCLA SNF Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture. This grant will support a collaborative, three-year pilot program to enhance academic mobility for faculty, staff, and students travelling between the two institutions. It will bridge the geographical gap that divides academics and cultural producers in Greece and the west coast of North America.

The B.C. Knowledge Development Fund has provided this generous support to SFU researchers involved in 23 projects to continue vital research in health, climate action and advanced computing. This investment helps ensure they have access to the state-of-the-art scientific equipment and infrastructure they need to lead the province into the future.

BOILER SYSTEM UPGRADES AT BURNABY CAMPUS

A scheduled central boiler systems upgrade is happening from Friday, Sept. 23 to Sunday, Sept. 25. There will be limited impact to the university community but the Bennett Library will close early on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 6:00 P.M. to accommodate safety inspections related to this work. Those on Burnaby campus this weekend may also notice that tap water is less hot and that, with cooler evening weather some buildings may be cooler than normal in the mornings. Once completed, this project will help us decrease our campus’s greenhouse gas emissions by reconfiguring our hot water usage through the Corix Biomass plant.
