SFU SCIENCE ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS OF 2022 EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARDS

Congratulations to this year's award recipients, which includes both faculty members and graduate students.

 

LEADING TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE THROUGH DIALOGUE

Jocelyn Wong is the program coordinator at the SFU Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. She believes that transformative change begins with dialogue and leads events on a wide range of topics, including democracy, climate action and racial equity.

SFU ATHLETICS UPDATE

SFU Red Leafs Weekend Recap

Soccer – Both the men’s and women’s squads were victorious this past weekend. The women’s team won 3-2 vs. Central Washington Wildcats and the men’s team victory (2-1) vs. Seattle Pacific Falcons.

Volleyball – swept all three games vs. Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks.

Swimming – hosted its lone home competition, a dual meet against UBC on Friday. The visiting Thunderbirds were victorious on both the women's and men's sides.

Cross Country Running - men’s team placed sixth overall while the SFU women were ninth overall at the NCAA Division II Pre Nationals race hosted by Seattle Pacific on Saturday.

Shrum Bowl Tickets

Grab your tickets soon for the ultimate cross-town rivalry football game between SFU and UBC. Cheer on the SFU Red Leafs on Friday, Dec. 2, Terry Fox Field at the Burnaby campus. Only 600 tickets remaining.

 

Drop off gently used books, CDs, DVDs, board games or puzzles to the marked donation bins located inside the entrance to the Belzberg Library until Monday, Oct. 31. Please contact Aelita Maclver at vanexec@sfu.ca to donate baked goods to the sale.

Do you know students who have an idea that could make a community impact? SFU's Office of Community Engagement is pleased to offer up to $30,000 in funding to SFU students. Please encourage them to apply by November 25.

A professor in the Department of American Indian Studies at the University of Washington, Coté has dedicated her personal and academic life to creating awareness around Indigenous health and wellness issues and working with Indigenous peoples and communities in revitalizing their traditional foodways. Join her as she talks about her current book, A Drum in One Hand, A Sockeye in the Other and reflects on Indigenous food sovereignty, health, resilience, and sustainability.
