DRIVE TO CHALLENGE SOCIETAL NORMS INSPIRES EDI SPECIALIST NADIA MALLAY

NEW APP AIMS TO ADDRESS MISINFORMATION ABOUT COVID-19 VACCINES

A new initiative launches this week to engage young adults and provide accurate information to encourage them to get vaccinated and obtain their booster shots. This app supports young adults in making informed choices to protect their health and the community as we head into the busy summer travel season.

FREE DISPOSABLE MASKS AVAILABLE FOR DEPARTMENT USE

SFU still has supply of disposable, medical-grade masks available for order. Department administrators can place orders via SFU Central Stores for members of their teams who choose to wear masks. As a reminder, disposable masks can be recycled at many locations across SFU’s three campuses.

PERIOD PROMISE CAMPAIGN BY UNITED WAY

Many people can’t afford menstrual products. Join SFU and the United Way of British Columbia for a discussion about period equity as part of the United Way of British Columbia’s Period Promise campaign. This virtual event is free, and panelists include the Honourable Senator Mobina Jaffer, Q.C., Sobhana Jaya-Madhavan (SFU), Ellen Mee (SFU, student) and Angelene Prakash (New Westminster BIA).

 

COMMUNITY MAKING AND BLACK FLOURISHING

The public symposium, 'Community Making and Black Flourishing Through the Scarborough Charter' is part of the inaugural Inter-Institutional Forum of the Scarborough National Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion in Canadian Higher Education.

SFU alumni are invited to join the Alumni Association for the online Annual General Meeting (AGM). The evening begins with our AGM followed by a special wine event with viticulturist, winemaker and SFU alumnus Val Tait, who will discuss best wines pairings for comfort foods. In addition, you can access a special deal on wine, courtesy of Gold Hill Winery.

Join SFU's Centre for Educational Excellence at the 2022 Symposium on Teaching and Learning. In two virtual sessions, 3M National Teaching Fellowship recipient Chantal Gibson (SIAT) and West Coast Teaching Excellence Award recipient Paola Ardiles (FHS) will bring this year's participants together in conversation around creative and inclusive teaching practices at SFU. Join our in-person Teaching Café for informal conversations about instructor well-being and (re)connect with colleagues across the disciplines.
