RESOURCES + OPERATIONAL UPDATES

The Teaching Support Staff Union (TSSU) has announced two forms of strike action for Wednesday, July 19. Picket lines will take place at Surrey Campus, at both the Central City and Sustainable Energy Engineering buildings. The TSSU will also engage in a work stoppage for teaching activities by TSSU members across the university. The university has requested additional bargaining dates to continue making progress toward a negotiated settlement that meets the core needs of both parties and the sustainable and best interests of the entire SFU community. For more information about what to expect, visit the Collective Bargaining website.

The Provost's office has paused the search for a new Associate Vice-President, Learning and Teaching (AVPLT). This is to allow the incoming Provost, Dilson Rassier, time to determine the best course of action. Elizabeth Elle, the current AVPLT, will complete her term on August 31. Wade Parkhouse, the provost and vice-president academic, pro tem will appoint an acting AVPLT to serve temporarily until a decision is made in the fall.

SFU is looking for community members to guide accessibility and inclusion efforts across the university’s three campuses. Faculty, staff and students are invited to join the committee that will help the university identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility.

As part of IT Services' commitment to sustaining virtual collaboration options, work is underway to replace SFU Vault with OneDrive or MS Teams. You are encouraged to explore these secure platform options.
