TRANSFORMING THE FUTURE OF CANCER

For more than two decades, Faculty of Health Sciences professor Stuart Peacock has focused his research on developing more effective cancer services. In 2015, Peacock began serving as the inaugural holder of the Leslie Diamond Chair in Cancer Survivorship position. His goal is to lead research that will help to develop better access to more effective cancer services in British Columbia.

 

BREAKING THE BARRIERS OF SOUND

School for the Contemporary Arts professor Mauricio Pauly and pianist Eve Egoyan released their album, Hopeful Monster, this past October to wide acclaim. Pauly talks about music-making, inspiration, teaching, collaboration and his enjoyment of being “lost."

 

In December, SFU's Vancity Office of Community Engagement wrapped up their latest Below the Radar podcast series. See How We Run! featured conversations with arts and cultural workers inspired by the long history of artist-run centres in Vancouver as well as the affordability crisis that threatens to make the city one without art.

HELP TO SHAPE OPEN SCIENCE AT SFU

The SFU Open Source Principles, which will set the foundation for an Open Source Framework at the university, have been drafted. Community input from researchers is now needed to ensure that the principles truly reflect SFU's shared values and needs. Attend a town hall, join a focus group or submit feedback by survey/email.

 

Staff, faculty, students and recent alumni are eligible to participate in this competition that celebrates innovative ideas and entrepreneurial pursuits within the SFU community. Submit applications by January 21.
