Stephanie Vlachos

Stephanie started her PhD in 2006 under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Harden here in MBB. After completing her degree in 2012, she moved on to do a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, in the lab of Dr. Todd Nystul where she was interested in understanding how cell polarity might play a role in stem-cell competition.

In the Spring of 2015, she moved back to the Vancouver area with her husband, their dog and cat to prepare for the arrival of their baby girl, Everleigh. Stephanie started as a lecturer at SFU in the MBB department in the Fall of 2015 and having "grown up" in MBB, she feels very fortunate to be able to teach the next generation of students in the same way that her and her peers were trained.
