Planning and facilitation
The Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue at Simon Fraser University provides an ideal conference environment with institutional and support services designed to foster understanding and positive action.
With support from Dialogue Programs, of SFU Continuing Studies, and the Centre for Dialogue (Academic Program), the Wosk Centre offers expertise to diverse organizations, communities and individuals on the use of dialogue-based inquiry for the exploration and understanding of complex public issues.
Program Planning
We can assist clients to develop content, strategies, budgets, and other elements critical to organizing effective events, conferences and programs. We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with individuals and organizations to develop programs of mutual interest.
Consultation Services
Simon Fraser University dialogue experts have participated as facilitators, program designers and/or consultants for a variety of clients including the Vancouver-area police departments, The Institute of Public Administration (IPAC), TriCities Community Solutions (United Way), The International Association for Consultative Law, Action Canada, the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities.
Facilitation and Dialogue Services
The Wosk Centre for Dialogue can provide facilitators, mediators, and other meeting specialists to fit a particular event's nature and objectives. We recommend that groups wishing to explore the particular dynamics of meeting ‘in the round’ contact us.
Speakers, panels, and experts
As part of a comprehensive university, we have access to experts within and beyond the university—both locally and internationally—who can arrange for moderators, speakers, panelists, specialized researchers, and program consultants.
Credit courses and dialogue programs cultivate a spirit of dynamic conversation among all sectors of the community. SFU works with government, business and non-profit organizations to create dialogue events. Innovations like the Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue and the Diploma in Dialogue and Negotiation exemplify a multidisciplinary approach to teaching the theory and practice of dialogue. SFU research and other resources support the advancement of dialogue, and we provide expert facilitation services to groups interested in initiating discussions.
