About our facilities

Simon Fraser University’s main campus (mountaintop, Burnaby)

Meetings on the Mountain

Simon Fraser University’s main campus is located at the top of Burnaby Mountain, approximately half an hour's drive from Vancouver. The campus is ideal for meetings and seminars, conferences, school and youth groups, corporate retreats, athletic activities, and special events.

Our spectacular campus offers sweeping views of the city, lower-mainland and North Shore Mountains, and the mountain-top location allows groups and individuals to benefit from being in a quiet park-like setting away from the distractions of the city.

Facility Rental

The campus features a variety of lecture theatres, fixed and flexible seating classrooms in addition to wide hallways and the West Mall Lounge with space for exhibits, poster presentations, receptions and meals (up to 200 people), natural lighting, original artwork and a wide outdoor patio with views overlooking Indian Arm inlet.

During the Spring and Fall semesters, theatres and classrooms are available on most evenings and weekends while during the summer months (May - August) some theatres and classrooms are available full time.

Key features include:

  • Tiered theatres (36-485 seats) with flip-up writing tablets on each chair.
  • Audiovisual services include fixed and wireless high-speed internet, audio recording, videoconferencing capabilities and large-projection screens.
  • All classrooms are equipped with an overhead projector, blackboards and wall screens and most have one wall of natural lighting.
  • 24 hour security.
  • Access for handicapped visitors.

SFU Vancouver

SFU Vancouver comprises three buildings in the heart of downtown Vancouver: Harbour Centre, the Morris J Wosk Centre for Dialogue™, and the Segal Graduate School of Business.

Each building provides a different option for meetings and conferences, including elegantly restored heritage buildings equipped with state of the art technology equipment, an IACC rated conference centre, and a vibrant campus building offering an array of theatre, classroom and multipurpose spaces.

Located near the terminus for the SeaBus, SkyTrain and West Coast Express, there is easy transportation access to all Simon Fraser University Vancouver buildings from all points of the city.

Harbour Centre
This is a modern multi-purpose facility which offers convenience, comfort and a stimulating educational atmosphere. The Harbour Centre building accommodates university courses as well as meeting space in various formats, including theatres, set classroom configurations, tiered policy rooms, computer labs and flexible meeting and event spaces.

Morris J Wosk Centre for Dialogue
The Dialogue Centre combines superior space, services and technology. This facility is certified by the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC), ensuring the highest standard of conference meeting space designed specifically to provide a productive environment. Housed within a restored heritage building, the Centre features a spectacular main plenary designed in the round to facilitate interaction and communication.

Segal Graduate School of Business
SFU Vancouver’s new Segal Graduate School of Business is the latest expansion of SFU’s downtown presence. This heritage building is newly restored and upgraded, resulting in a classically elegant environment discreetly equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Grand event rooms, tiered policy rooms and additional varied spaces provide more options for meetings in the heart of downtown.

Woodward's
The SFU School for the Contemporary Arts at Woodward's will offer partnership and venue opportunities for Vancouver's professional arts community. The state-of-the-art 120,000-sq-ft facility, open in January 2010, will include a cinema, theatre, studios, and galleries.

SFU Surrey

SFU's newest campus, SFU Surrey, offers state-of-the-art facilities in an architecturally acclaimed setting, the Bing Thom-designed Central City. The campus is convenient to both the Surrey Central SkyTrain station and to Highway 1, making it easy to access from downtown, the airport and the Fraser Valley.

As SFU Surrey is a teaching campus, academic activities have first priority, making large-scale conferences and events impractical at the campus. However, smaller events can be accommodated. We offer a variety of room sizes, from the 200-seat Westminster Savings Credit Union Lecture Theatre, through smaller lecture theatres, to more intimate meeting and break-out rooms.
