BC Population Prosperity Initiative
Launched in December 2012, the BC Population Prosperity Initiative (BCPPI) is a new endeavour of the School of Public Policy.
The goal of the BC Population Prosperity Initiative is to look at public policy options, engage the public to determine the most feasible options, and answer the question: What do the people of BC want in order to raise prosperity overall?
BCPPI will produce several reports annually on key social and economic issues important to British Columbians. To encourage discussion and awareness of the issues, these reports will be distributed widely to the media and public events will be organized in partnership with SFU Public Square. See Events for more details.
Another key function of BCPPI is access to BC Progress Board data covering the period 1990-2010, related to various aspects of BC’s economic and social performance. The datasets are described and categorized below.

Your Decision 2013: an BC election panel organized by the Vancouver Sun and BCPPI. View Workbook
The Vancouver Sun and SFU hosted a public dialogue called Your Decision 2013 with a cross-province panel that represented average voters. The object of the exercise was to provide the public with an opportunity to understand the issues confronting them in this election in a neutral way. They then provided their feedback during a three-hour conference call, which generated a conversation that was not only informative for the panelists but indicative of the high level of understanding and curiosity the public has about issues facing them this election.
Here are Technical Notes from four topic areas covered in the dialogue:
Education
Health Care
Resource Extraction
Transportation
