BEST of the BEST

In honour of BC Day (August 5, 2013), we took a look at the best of BC organizations and individuals. We started with the BC’s Top Employers list. The ninth annual competition organized by the Vancouver Sun recognizes BC employers who lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Employers are selected according to eight criteria, such as physical workplace, employee communications, performance management, etc. Here are some of the top BC employers who made the list for 2013:
- BC Hydro
- Best Buy Canada Ltd.
- Cactus Restaurant Ltd.
- Simon Fraser University
- Vancouver International Airport Authority
You may know most of the above names, but what about these companies? They are also one of the top employers in BC. Do you know any of them?
- AbeBooks Inc. (Electronic Shopping)
- Connect Hearing (Offices of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists, and Audiologists)
- Great Little Box Company (Corrugated and Solid Fiber Box Manufacturing)
- Nature’s Path Foods Inc. (Breakfast Cereal Manufacturing)
- Sophos Inc. (Custom Computer Programming Services)

In addition, BC Business ranked the Top 100 companies in BC, both public and private, by revenue, performance, and sector. These highest-earning publicly-traded companies in BC are excellent in doing their business, from manufacturing to technology and ranging from telecommunications to real estate.

Top 100 BC Companies Public Corporations 2013:
- Telus Corporation (Telecommunications)
- Teck Resources Ltd. (Mining)
- Finning International Inc. (Distribution)
- Goldcorp Inc. (Mining)

Business In Vancouver highlights the achievement of 40 business professionals under the age of 40 who are outstanding in leadership, business judgment and community contributions every year. The winners of the Forty under 40 represent their professional success and responsibilities in the community at a relatively young age.
