Summer Reading List
Summer Reading List
By: Mike Wong
Summer! The one word that every Vancouverite perks up to every time they hear the word mentioned. With exams just around the corner and the semester ending, everyone is surely looking forward to the end of the month so that they can start their summer plans, whether that is a summer job at the restaurant or vacation to that hot and tropical place far away. However, don’t let your brain rot away by not reading. To keep your brain stimulated, and also your professional development growing, the Career Advisors at SFU Career Services have recommended some of their favourite books to help engage, inspire, and keep you on top of your career and life goals:
- Not for Sale: Why We Need a New Job Search Mindset by Cathy Keates
- Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain
- A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers will Rule the Future by Daniel Pink
- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
- A New Earth – Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle
- The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
- The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
- Tuesdays with Morrie: an Old Man, a Young Man, and Life’s Greatest Lesson by Mitch Albom
- What is the What? By Dave Eggers
- The Gift of Imperfection by Brene Brown
- Learned Optimism: How to Change Your Mind and Your Life by Martin E. P. Seligman
- 100 Conversations for Career Success: Learn to Network, Cold Call, and Tweet Your Way to Your Dream Job by Laura M. Labovich
And of course, our original favourite: The Adventures of Johnny Bunko – The Last Career Guide You’ll Ever Need by Daniel Pink
