Super Mom's Code: Work Life Balance

In celebration of Mother’s Day TheLadders gives its readers a sense of enlightenment through a released survey on what it is like to be a working mom, what they value most about their work situation and their work life balance. (Click here to see the infographic)

Balancing a career and a family is the biggest challenge that a working mom takes on. To the question “Do you struggle to balance your career and family?”, 55% answered “Yes, and the struggle to excel at both is overwhelming”.  Though working moms suffer “balance burnout” and “working mom’s guilt” it is absolutely possible to find a compromise that makes one happy and satisfied. 

Forbes.com offers their Top 10 Tips for a Work-Life Balance[2]:

  1. Identify Priorities
  2. Do not over commit yourself
  3. Learn your employer’s policies
  4. Have a support system
  5. Communicate with colleagues and bosses
  6. Use down time without technology
  7. Telecommute, if you can
  8. Set a time frame for your for executing your work-life balance
  9. Ask if there is any flexibility for your work schedule
