Leadership is one of the most crucial skills students need these days. Employers demand it from job candidates, and it’s a skill that affects most — if not all — facets of our lives.

This is why programs such as Lead SFU are crucial for many students. The Ceritificate in Innovative Leadership (commonly known as LEAD), is a comprehensive co-curricular program for SFU students who are committed to developing and reaching their leadership potential. The program runs for two full semesters and focuses on the following major components of leadership development:

1. Leadership Theory & Self-Awareness

2. Leadership Skill Development through workshops that explore interesting perspectives in leadership philosophies.

3. Applying Leadership Skills through the completion of community-based projects that addresses a leadership challenge facing an organization.

Personally, not getting involved with Lead SFU is the one thing I regret with my time at SFU.  While I didn’t personally go through the program, I’ve heard good things about it from current and past participants. I encourage you to apply today.

For more information, please visit the official website or watch this YouTube video. Applications for the 2011-2012 program are accepted until June 3, 2011.
