Opportunities for Various Faculties at the Fellburn Care Centre
Opportunities for Various Faculties at the Fellburn Care Centre
By: Hannah Choo
Located in Burnaby, the Fellburn Care Centre is a 110 bed extended facility for residents and families. It is part of Fraser Health and offers many services, including both residential and day care for seniors.
The centre is seeking volunteers for many of their programs. Each position offers an experience in the health care system, an opportunity to interact with residents and staff, and most importantly, a chance for students to apply their field of study. They are always seeking volunteers in the following:
- Music Therapy Programs
- Physiotherapy Programs
- Occupational Therapy Programs
- Therapeutic Recreational Programs
- Day Health Volunteer
The time commitment and other specific requirements varies depending on the program. However, all volunteers are required to speak fluent English, provide references, and take part in screening, interviews, orientation and training. A Criminal Record Check may be required. This is a great opportunity for students interested in social work or health care, or for students in Psychology, Contemporary Arts, Kinesiology, and Arts and Social Sciences.
To apply, download the volunteer application at the Fellbrun Care Centre site and email them at fcc.volunteerservices@fraserhealth.ca
