Volunteering for the City of Surrey

Volunteering for the City of Surrey
By: Kerri J
Are you one of SFU’s many students located at the Surrey campus? Do you live in the city of Surrey? Are you interested in volunteering for the city of Surrey? If your answer is “yes” to any of these questions, then this is the right article for you!
The City of Surrey provides a vast number of chances to volunteer throughout the year, and anyone over the age of 14 is able to apply for positions. However, you must make sure that you apply several months in advance, as spots fill up extremely fast!
On the city’s website, the volunteer page can be found here.
While exploring the site you may find that Surrey provides a variety of Volunteer Resources – including information sessions held every month, volunteer training, and a center where you can go and discuss volunteer opportunities. On the website a list of community volunteering partners can also be found here.
Once you have completed the volunteer application process you are able to choose a volunteer opportunity and get started!
For a clear step-by-step application guide check out the links above. You’ll find that Surrey is the perfect place to get involved, as you’ll be able to find both one-day and longer-term opportunities that suit your need.
Kerri is currently in her second year at SFU and working toward her degree in Business. Through her posts on the ENGAGE blog she hopes to inspire other students to take initiative and become engaged, both at SFU and within their communities.
