Christmastime marks a season of giving and of thankfulness. Not only do we get showered with gifts, we’re fortunate enough to be surrounded by our families and friends who are close to home and our hearts.

Now imagine spending your life without most of the resources that we are afforded and that we take for granted. For many countries of the world this is a reality; therefore, the mission of World Vision Canada (WVC) is to end poverty in some of the most impoverished communities in the world. It is our turn to help.

This Christmas, instead of buying someone a material gift, why not make a donation in their name? World Vision Canada is accepting donations for the floods in Pakistan, the devastation in Haiti, as well as many other problem areas of the world. The gift of as little as $10.00 has the ability to provide resources and stability in the life of someone in need.

Other options this holiday season include sponsoring a child and watching them grow. By providing $40.00 a month continuously you can help to save the life of someone who needs it.

World Vision Canada also has many volunteer opportunities available for those who would prefer to donate their time instead of money. Simply fill out their volunteer application form and you’ll be on your way to educating the public about WVC and the goodness that they provide.

WVC can provide more information about volunteer opportunities, events and FAQs on their Facebook and Twitter.

Be sure to remember that Christmas is not the only time to help those who need it, donations are accepted and volunteer positions are available throughout the year! “It’s easy to save a life!”
