EDITORS, WRITERS, DESIGNERS...

 

The Positions

Part-time or Full-time,  Now - August 2020, with possibility for extension.

The Project

The SFU OLC is hiring a team of students and recent alumni in paid or volunteer positions in various roles for our new site. We are looking for:

 › Ecxeptional Editors that will provide clear and encouraging feedback to contributors with exceptional attention to detail - noticing even the simplest spelling mistakes;)
 › Highly skilled designers with experience in mobile first and iterative design, who are proficient in Adobe products, CSS, HTML, and multimedia, with a focus on user experience
 › Content Curators to assist in the critical task of ensuring complete migration and improvement of OLC content on the new site

The SFU OLC

The OLC is an online learning environment covering virtually every aspect of a student's university life and the first few years after convocation, including academic, career, volunteer and work-related topics. Almost all of the content on the OLC is contributed by the SFU community. The new community scope is expanding across all of Student Services, with a greater variety of content types and improved user experience and interactions.

 EDITOR:

 › Manage OLC content from the initial submission through to final publication

 › Provide clear, concise and kind feedback to OLC contributors - assisting them to tell a great story

 › Create compelling social media postings & assist to manage OLC channels

 › Provide training and support to OLC collaborators, projects & team members  

 

What we are looking for:

 › Editorial experience  

 › Strong communication and consulting skills

 › Proficiency in publishing online and working with Photoshop, Hootesuite, Twitter, FB, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.

 › Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively

 › Strong communication and consulting skills

 

WEB & UX DESIGNERS:

 › Participate in all visual design stages from concept to design implementation

 › Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas

 › Review and implement guidelines, best practices and standards including accessibilty, and SFU's Common Look and Feel  

 

What we are looking for:

 › A portfolio that rocks and demonstrates your design esthetic & experience, UX/UI design skills, and problem-solving abilities 

 › Proven work experience as a web designer

 › Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio

 › Experience in responsive, mobile-first, user centric, content first environments

 › Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and/or site maps

 › Proficiency in Adobe Tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design programs, and wire-framing tools

 › Proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript for rapid prototyping

 › Experience working in an Agile development process

 › Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively

 › Strong communication and consulting skills

 › Prototyping and iterative design experience

 › Up-to-date with the latest Web trends, techniques and technologies
 

 

GRAPHIC & MULTIMEDIA DESIGNERS:

 › Participate in all visual design stages from concept to design implementation

 › With the design team - create site graphics, interactive content and multimedia (images, videos, podcasts, infographics, and/or galleries), newsletter/messaging design, banners, etc.

 › Complete research on web trends to influence site design and content output

 

What we are looking for:

 › A portfolio that rocks and demonstrates your design esthetic & experience

 › Proven work experience as a graphic designer

 › Experience in interative design, implementing team feedback 

 › Proficiency in Adobe Tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and content creation tools such as Piktochart

 › Strong communication and consulting skills

 

Our site will be built on Drupal 8.  Experience with this platform would be an asset to this position, but is not required.
