Position Title: 
Communications and Administrative Assistant
Responsibilites / Tasks: 
• Coordination and execution of public events and presentations involving media and government officials • Update systems and procedure manuals in relations to seasonal activities, ensure they are being followed by staff • Write and participate in the formatting of Academy’s marketing materials, brochures, notices, program notes, announcements and other publicity related communications • Promoting and marketing of Academy’s various programs • Coordinate and assist with communications and administrative work related to Goh Ballet’s The Nutcracker.
Projects / Initiatives: 
- Managed "The Nutcracker Shop", which included ordering items for the shop and displaying them in an appealling way - Processed work permits in a timely manner for 7 of our dancers, allowing them to dance in the Vancouver Opera's production of Aida - Coordinated a raffle ticket selling event at Metrotown Mall in support of Goh Ballet's production of The Nutcracker
What did you learn: 
- How to use applications such as Microsoft Outlook and StudioMAN - How to work as a team in an office environment in order to promote unity and effectiveness - How to effectively balance performing communications and administrative duties with attending to the needs of our students and parents, who were regularly flowing in and out of the office
Tips / Advice: 
- Keep a list of priorities - Write down every task that you are assigned, no matter how menial, because the office can get very busy and you are sure to forget a few things

We Are All Canucks: An Intern’s Perspective
