About me
I am a fourth year psychology major student and I entered my first work term at the Mediated Learning Academy as a special education assistant. I work within a classroom to provide support to students that require it. This private elementary school is an exceptional institution for children learning with special needs. It is exciting and fulfilling to work with young children, even though sometimes you feel like giving up altogether. The work is tiresome, unpredictable, and at times, quite nauseating (especially when dealing with the younger ones), but worth it for those special bonding moments between you and a child. They learn to depend, care, and respect you, and you know that you have made a positive impact on that child's life. So far, this work experience has taught me things that I can do well, and things I am terrible at. It also gave me insight as to what kind of career I would benefit from and what I would not be interested in. I cannot wait to see what the rest of my work terms entail!
