By: Mike Wong
As the spring semester is coming to an end, it’s time to start planning your summer. Are you wondering what to do? Do you wanting to do something different this summer? Don't know where to start? Career Services’s miniBIGFair – March 7 -- may be might be a good place to begin. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the fair, the miniBIG Fair is a mixture of organizations who are hiring, have volunteer opportunities and information about graduate schools and programs.
This year the miniBIG Fair is held during Arts Week which is brought to you by Society for Arts and Social Sciences (SASS) who is also an official sponsor of the minBIG Fair! A unique trait of this year’s fair is various SFU Alumni profiles will be placed on display throughout the fair. You will now get a chance to see where an SFU degree can take you!
Here are some tips on how to prepare before the big day:
- RSVP through Symplicity to get the latest updates
- Prepare your resume and get feedback by visiting Career Services before the fair, or by attending one of our mini-resume consults on the day of the fair
- Take a look at the Recruiters on Campus website and see the list of exhibitors
- Think about which organization representatives you want to meet
- Check out SFU’s Career Services website for more tips and career resources
Unlike previous years, the spring fair is no longer solely focus on summer opportunities. miniBIG Fair is another opportunity for you to see what’s out there. So don’t wait for the annual BIG Fair in fall to start looking at your options. Seize the opportunity now!
You don’t want to miss this! Look forward to seeing you there!
