Websites to Help You Find Volunteer Opportunities

Websites to Help You Find Volunteer Opportunities
By: Kim Huynh
If you are having trouble finding volunteer opportunities that suit both your needs and interests, then you have come to the right post! I have compiled a list of websites that will aid you in finding the perfect volunteer opportunity.
This website allows you to create a profile in which you can share your skills and experience, interests and location and other information, such as why you are interested in volunteering. What I love the most about this website is that it takes your profile and matches it with compatible volunteer opportunities.
This website is perfect for those that are interested in . . . short-term volunteer opportunities for special events around the province.
2. Go Volunteer
This website does not require you to create a profile in order to browse volunteer opportunities. Instead, you are able to search for volunteer opportunities via your location and can apply individually to any opportunity that interests you (as long as you meet the volunteer requirements!)
This website is perfect for those that are interested in . . . finding volunteer opportunities for multiple organizations that are close to home.
This website is quite similar to the above website. However, the key difference is that this post lists all opportunities that it has on its page – there is no matching/choice of location. In addition, the website lists the latest postings – the current month (in this case, June) and the one following (July).
This website is perfect for those that are interested in . . . volunteer opportunities available in the near future in Vancouver.
4. Symplicity
SFU’s Symplicity site not only allows you to search for volunteer opportunities, but also for events and job postings (especially catered towards co-op students!)
This website is perfect for those that are interested in . . . volunteer opportunities that may or may not be local as well as those who are prospective co-op students. If you are interested in partaking in SFU’s co-op program, I highly recommend taking a look at this website – you might find volunteer opportunities with an employer or organization that you are interested in working for (either through co-op or post-grad).
I hope that these websites aid you in your search! Happy searching and more importantly, happy volunteering!
