Co-op Lightning Round: Top Tips for Success
Co-op Lightning Round: Top Tips for Success
By: admin
We asked the following question across our social media sites and here are some of the responses.
'Did you find your Co-op Placement during Lightning Round? Share your tips for success with our SFU Co-op students.'
Great question! I found my first co-op term during lightning round and I was so glad I did. I learned that if you are open from the very start to the possibility of trying something new and different, then you'll grow so much more from the experience.
As a Criminology major & Sociology minor at the time of my lightning round, I interviewed for a position with a non-profit organization with the intention of assisting in the planning for a multi-cultural health fair. I was not too familiar with non-profit organizations and not very familiar with issues relating to accessing health resources and services for non-English speakers in Vancouver. After my co-op I became much more enlightened and had a better idea of what I enjoyed doing in terms of work experience.
