WIL Video Contest 2009 Winner Showcase

SFU's Work Integrated  Learning (WIL) Unit awarded two sets of Olympic tickets to excited students  on Friday, February 5th, 2010, at SFU Surrey Campus, as part of their bi-annual  video contest.

The contest - open to all SFU students - asked participants to create a short video that showcased what they wanted to do with their degree.  Students could expand upon one of five categories: The Co-op Experience,  Careers, Volunteer and Civic Engagement, or Wil Fraser (WIL's mascot).

Grand prize winners Michael Ngo and partner Anu Chouhan (previously our OLC Host) submitted a video about SFU's Co-operative  Education program and its many benefits. They were awarded two tickets to  the 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremony. "Anu and I are big believers in SFU's Co-op  program and what it can do for students," said Ngo, "We wanted to share that  message with others."

As students with SFU's School of Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT), Ngo and Chouhan put the  advanced animation and editing skills they garnered from their courses toward  the creation of a compelling and playful video. Please see their video showcased below:

Equally excited to receive a pair of Olympic tickets was second  place winner and fellow SIAT student Paul Yuan, who entered a video about his experience working as a Co-op student  for IBM in Toronto, Ontario. Yuan's video demonstrated a keen wit and a strong  passion for Co-operative Education. Yuan's gratitude to WIL was apparent as he  awarded two tickets to the Men's Preliminary Hockey game between Canada and the  USA: "I never expected to be attending an event at the Olympics and I am such a  hockey fan." See Paul Yuan's entry below:

Earlier in the year, WIL awarded Olympic Men's Gold Medal Hockey  tickets to Brandon Lau, Recruitment Specialist representing WIL employer  partner Rogers Retail, as well as a further two tickets to the Men's Preliminary  Hockey game between Canada and the USA to undergraduate Manvir Mander, who  dedicated countless hours to volunteering for the 2009 Career Days job fair at  SFU.
