C.A.R.E. SFU Global Travel Award Program
C.A.R.E. SFU Global Travel Award Program
By: Matthew Sy | International Marketing and Communications Assistant
The C.A.R.E. SFU Global Travel Award Program has funded air travel for students volunteering abroad with not-for-profit organizations since 2010. Ten students have been awarded to date, with up to thirty more flights to be awarded in 2011.
The award, distributed by C.A.R.E. Society, makes air travel possible with donated Asia Miles points for students working in civic engagement, international service learning, and humanitarian work. 855,000 air mile points were awarded in 2010 to SFU students volunteering for organizations located in countries such as Kenya, South Africa, Bolivia, and the Philippines. Past award recipients have worked for organizations such as Light & Love Home, AIPE, and the Council for Health and Development.
Thinking of volunteering abroad with a not-for-profit in 2011? There is still time to apply for the C.A.R.E. SFU Global Travel Award. The next deadline is July 8th for travel booked anytime before the end of 2011.
