SFU Account Management

  • Change your SFU Computing Password
    To protect access to your account, choose a password that others cannot guess. You should also change your password on a regular basis, especially if you have reason to believe that your current password may have been seen or used by others.
  • Modify your SFU Directory Entry
    Edit viewing permissions, preferred email address and other information displayed in the SFU Directory.
  • Manage your Maillists
    Create and manage lists for groups, departments, committees, and clubs. Faculty and staff are able to set up course lists which automatically contain registered students.


Setting a vacation message in SFU Connect:
  1. Go to the Preferences tab in SFU Connect. Then, choose the Mail tab under Preferences
  2. Scroll further down in the screen and select the 'Send auto-reply message' checkbox. Enter your vacation message in the text field.
  3. If you wish to define a start and/or end date for the vacation message, click on the Start Date and/or End Date check boxes and choose the appropriate date(s).
  4. Click Save near the top left of the screen.

Setting email forwarding in SFU Connect:
  1. Go to the SFU web site at http://www.sfu.ca, place your cursor over "SFU Online" and click "SFU Connect"
  2. Go to the Preferences tab in SFU Connect. Then, choose the Mail tab under Preferences
  3. Scroll further down in the screen to the 'Forward a copy to:' field. Enter the email address to which you would like to forward your SFU Connect email.
  4. If you do not wish to keep copies of messages in SFU Connect, check the 'Don't keep a local copy of messages' checkbox.
  5. Click Save near the top left of the screen.
  6. Go to the Mail Filters tab under Preferences
  7. Click on New Filter, and name the filter 'Email forwarding'.
  8. Instead of 'Subject', choose 'Size'. Then, choose 'Under' and enter the number zero (0) in the text field. Leave the last drop down menu set to 'B'. Click OK.
  9. Click Save near the top left of the screen.
  10. Send a test email to your SFU email address to ensure the forwarding is working correctly.
