There are no deadlines for minimal risk applications. If your study qualifies as ‘Minimal Risk’, you may submit the application anytime and it will be reviewed on a sequential basis.
The REB meets to review research studies on the second Wednesday of the month with some exceptions due to the university calendar. The meetings are held in Room 280, in Discovery II on the SFU Burnaby campus. These meetings are closed to the public.
Deadlines for Full Board Review
Submissions that may require Full Board Review (e.g. may be greater-than-minimal risk) must be received by 4:30pm of the deadline as listed in the table below in order to be reviewed at the corresponding REB meeting date. Applications received after the deadline will be deferred to the following meeting date.
The Principal Investigator must indicate clearly in their application that s/he believes the study may require Full Board Review or that s/he believes the study may be considered greater-than-minimal risk. A failure to indicate this possibility to ORE staff may result in a delay in the review of your study by the Full Board. The Chair, REB, the Director, ORE and the Associate Director, ORE, reserve the right to forward any study they believe should be reviewed and approved by the Full Board.
