Information on SFU's Internal Deadlines

SFU Internal Deadlines are set one week in advance of the funding agency’s external deadline date. By that date, the SFU Signature Sheet(s) must be emailed to ors@sfu.ca.  SFU co-applicants from departments/faculty which are different than the Applicant's must also submit a fully signed SFU SIG Sheet by the SFU Internal deadline date.  The SFU on-line application must be in the “submit mode” for ORS review.

  • The objective of the ORS review is to ensure as well as possible that the application meets University and agency requirements and consequently improve the University’s overall success rate.  In many cases, simple omissions or errors may result in a discarded application that would otherwise be successful.  ORS review provides a final once-over to spot minor errors that may eliminate your proposal from the competition.
  • Applications received in the "submit" mode by the SFU Internal deadline will be reviewed for compliance with the funding agency’s guidelines and application requirements. Where possible, on-line applications will be returned to the applicant for revision prior to forwarding them electronically to the funding agency before the final competition deadline hour.
  • Although most on-line portals close at 5 pm PT, it takes time for ORS staff to thoroughly review and electronically submit applications to the funding agency. Problems with the portal may create further delays. Therefore, we strongly recommend observing the SFU Internal deadline date and requirements to ensure the timely eSubmission of your application to the funding agency.
  • Individual extensions to the internal deadline are no longer necessary. SFU faculty members who "submit" their on-line application after the advertised SFU Internal Deadline date will no longer receive comments/review from ORS staff. Upon receipt of the required SFU Signature Sheet(s), ORS will forward the on-line application (as received) to the funding agency.
  • SFU co-applicants on NON-SFU applications must also provide the SFU Signature Sheet + penultimate draft copy of the Applicant's application, including budget and budget justification by the SFU Internal deadline date.

See the SSHRC web site for their Contact Information.
