Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Examines the development of modern psychology from the founding of the first laboratories in the late 19th century to the present. The development and revisions of the major theoretical systems of psychology are examined from a comparative and critical perspective. Students with credit for PSYC 207 may not take this course for further credit.

COURSE DETAILS:

Students will dig into primary sources and critically evaluate common conceptions about the historical and philosophical
foundations of psychology. The value of history courses to psychology students will (hopefully) become clear as we progress
through the semester. This is a writing intensive course that puts a heavy emphasis on critical thinking and group work.

Grading

  • Mid-Term Exam: 15%
  • Participation: 20%
  • Writing Assignments: 50%
  • Final Exam: 15%
